When it comes to owning a pool, safety is key. Owning a swimming pool can be a lot of fun, especially if you have children. On hot summer days, you can spend all day playing, swimming and laughing in the pool, but along with the enjoyment and fun of owning a pool, there also comes a measure of responsibility. It is up to you to take all of the safety precautions you can, in order to properly ensure the safety of others. Make sure that there is at least one adult who has CPR training. Also, keep safety equipment within eyesight and reach of the pool, and above all, invest in a safety pool cover.
Considered a step above regular pool covers, Pool Guard Covers offer safety and peace of mind in addition to heating and protecting your pool. The benefits of a pool safety cover are of numerous for anyone that owns a pool. The first and foremost in the eyes of Pool Guard is the safety aspect. In order for a pool safety cover to be safe it must undergo rigid independent testing to meet certain minimum requirements in order to qualify as an ASTM safety cover. This is a coveted certification for any product in the pool safety category and every cover that has the Pool Guard name on it has this badge of quality associated with it so that you know it not only meets but also exceeds the standards set forth by ASTM.

Extra strong, UV and abrasion resistant solid pools covers
Low maintenance, durable mesh covers
After measuring your pool, we use computer-aided-design to create safety pool covers that fit perfectly ANY size or shape of pool.
Without paying more, you get a strong, safe pool cover that meets or exceeds ASTM Standards ES1346-91 for pool safety covers, when properly installed.
Pool Guard's superior hardware technology, with high performance stainless steel springs and sturdy brass anchors, makes our swimming pool covers safe and easy to use.
In addition to premium materials we use (see below for details), our construction is unsurpassed in the industry. For example, we were the first to feature double webbing, which is stitching both on the top and all the way underneath – not just the first 18 inches underneath like most of our competitors. We also use triple-stitched bonded threads and add an”X” and box stitch at the perimeters for extra strength.
Safety pool covers mean extreme protection and safety because they come with double-webbed lining. This means that they are far more durable and stronger than regular pool covers. If someone were to accidentally walk on top of a regular pool cover, they will most likely fall in the pool (taking the cover with them). This can be very dangerous. But, because safety pool covers are incredibly strong, you don’t have to worry about anyone falling in the pool when they are on it.
Our experienced installers have an eye for safety and will take note of any unique features in your pool environment that need to be addressed.
It starts with our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility that includes computer-aided-design and a carefully engineered layout that maximizes efficiency.
Plus we handle many processes in-house that other manufacturers farm out. With our pool covers, this includes the all-important lock stitching. The result is higher quality, more efficient processes, and no internal shipping costs. It also means our work isn’t dependent on someone else’s schedule, so we get your swimming pool cover done on time!
Low-maintenance, durable mesh material - Our beautiful mesh pool cover is fabricated with a unique blend of lightweight, supple polypropylene that stays dry and does not crack with age. Rain just drains through without collecting on the surface, while leaves and debris just dry and blow away. No water bags or pumping are necessary, and off-season maintenance is virtually eliminated.
Don’t be fooled, our conventional mesh is nothing ordinary! It has extremely high tensile strength and is impervious to chlorine and mildew. While most fabrics on the market have a thread count of 34 x 20 per square inch, we use a thread count of 34 x 22 per square inch. Hold it up to the light, and see for yourself. The tighter weave minimizes the sunlight that passes through the cover, therefore reducing springtime algae growth. Our Super Dense Mesh is our tightest woven material and has the highest shade quality. Extra strong solid pool cover material - Imagine opening your swimming pool to clear water in the spring. Well you can! By using a solid pool cover with proper water treatment and chemicals. Our solid pool covers are substantially stronger than the competition’s. Not only do they have ultra violet resistant additives, they are highly abrasion resistant. Our lightweight, Super Solid is a coated material. Unlike a laminate, the coated material is made by pouring hot liquid vinyl onto a polyester scrim. As it cools, the materials bond together. All solid swimming pool covers must use a pump or drain to prevent water from puddling on the cover. Our installation and care maintenance guides show how, with minimal maintenance, you can open your pool just as you closed it.
Our new lightweight, super tough solid is substantially stronger than our conventional solid. It is also highly abrasion and UV resistant.
Commercial safety pool covers - Our expertise goes well beyond residential pools. Our pool covers’ durability and safety features make them well suited for swim clubs, community pools, and hotels. When manufacturing these covers, we use only a high grade trampoline mesh that meets and exceeds all ASTM standards. It will withstand strong winds and storms. While recommended for commercial pools, this fabric is also available for residential applications.
Easy and Safe Installation:
Our safety pool covers are also quick and easy to install. They offer an innovative “trampoline” effect, which means that the webbing will bend but not break. They come with reinforced springs and anchors, so you can be sure that they won’t rip, tear or come undone. This offers you a great deal of peace of mind for you and your family, because you won’t have to worry about anyone falling into the pool when you are not around. Additionally, these will protect your pool from small animals that wander into the backyard, as well as keep out leaves, dirt and other debris.
Leaves and Debris:
Fall tends to be the time that many homeowners with pools install their pool safety covers due to the leaves falling, the temperature change and in some cases due to school being back in session (kids are not using the pool due to activities and the parents are shuffling the kids around for those activities) however we continue to see a trend where more and more people are using their covers on a more frequent basis as it tends to assist with the maintenance of the pool. Leaf stains on a pool floor are never a fun issue to deal with, even with the latest techniques ranging from chemicals to pumice stones the results often leave either an over lightening of the blue background on the pool floor or the stain is not completely removed.
Keeping Animals out:
As the weather changes from summer to fall and water becomes more scarce for animals, in many areas with urban sprawl the swimming pool becomes a watering hole particularly if there is not a fence around the property. Most animals that would be using the pool do not have a long enough neck (particularly dogs) to stick their head above the water enough in order to see where the steps are and often time continue to get out of the pool in the same place with no avail and send themselves into exhaustion and the results are fatal. A pool safety cover simply eliminates the opportunity for them to see the pool as an opportunity to drink out of or risk the possibility that they will fall into the pool with tragic results. A great deal of clients in the more tropical climates that have Iguanas living wild around can attest to the mess that they leave behind and the disgusting gifts that are often left in the pool for the owner resulting in a call to the pool person for an urgent cleaning or the owner having to take time out of what would be fun time to clean and prepare the pool for use.
Pool Guard dealers are trained on how to measure the simplest and the most difficult pools for pool safety covers. If your pool has a waterslide, diving board, ladder or even a grotto, Pool Guard dealers can provide a cover that is tight and ASTM approved. The typical measure time for a pool that is a standard rectangle is going to be in the range of twenty to thirty minutes. A more complex pool that has a kidney shape to it will require what is called and AB measurement and can take from forty five minutes to an hour and a half depending on the complexity of the shape of the pool as well as the obstacles (ladders, diving boards etc.) the pool has around the boarder of the pool. The installation time for a pool safety cover is also a direct reflection in regards to the complexity or simplicity of the shape of the pool. The average pool safety cover initial installation will take a trained Pool Guard dealer approximately four hours. If the pool is a simple shape it will more on the average of two hours. The more difficult and custom the pool the longer the initial installation will take. Pool Guard prides itself on the building and shipping of pool safety covers in 72 hours. If it is a standard shape cover, then it can will be shipped from the warehouse within 24 hours of the order. The result for you as the pool owner is that it should not take more than a week and a half from start to finish (of course this depends on scheduling of the dealer and the homeowner).
